Lyrics/music: Don de Leaumont
Made my way up the mountain, thru 4 feet of snow
Just me and my ever faithful horse.
The rocky trail it climbed so high, through the Carolina Sky
The air got thinner with every mile I’d climb.
The snow began to fall so hard, blinding to the eyes
Made it hard for me and my horse to see.
We set up camp 10 miles high, in the Appalachain sky
Soon my eyes began playing tricks on me…
Chorus: Approaching me from around that mountain road.
Was a pretty woman, cloaked in white.
My eyes were blinded by the snow, or was it the whiskey?
That had me seeing the strangest things that night.
The snow came down with such a force, it didn’t seem to end.
Supplies were short, as was my will to live
No cigarettes, not water left, or whiskey to warm my bones.
And to my horse had nothing left to give.
That night I felt a warmth so dear, she wrapped me in a shell
She sheltered me from that Carolina cold.
When I awoke she was gone away, nowhere to be seen.
And she didn’t even try to take my gold.
Chorus: Oh woman of the mountain, you wrapped me in your warmth.
Sitting next to me, cloaked in white.
I wish to see you once again, and give you many thanks.
For seeing me through that cold Carolina night. (3x out)
