The Rambler’s Tune

Music/Lyrics: Don de Leaumont

Wonder old rambler, alone by yourself.

The road stands to meet you, you no one else.

Walking so lightly, the cracks ‘neath your feet.

You know of no pity, and of no defeat.

Sleeping again, on the dark side of the moon.

Whistle yourself to sleep, a rambler’s tune.

You carry your sign, a cross that no one sees.

Falling weak to the blazing sun, beg for mercy, on your knees.

Falling on blind eyes, and deaf ears the same.

Another fallen pawn in this never ending game.

You pass thru the days, & the night never comes too soon.

Whistle yourself to sleep, a rambler’s tune.

Your train is a comin’, to take you who knows where.

You’ll know where you’re going, as soon as you get there.

So ride on mighty rambler, ride on out of this town.

Your work has been done here, no need to stick around.

Your boxcar of daydreams, sleeping again until noon.

At night, you whistle yourself to sleep, whistling a rambler’s tune.
