Moonsteppin’
Lyrics/Music: Don de Leaumont
The moon beckons me up form rest, when the stars rise in the sky.
After the sun has bid the day, another long good bye.
Put on the evenings best attire, I start to come alive.
Grab some tokens from the bowl, for the midnight trolley ride.
Strolling down the levee wall
The pain within my stomach calls.
I just can’t seem to fight. I just can’t make it right.
Moonsteppin, outside. Moonstepping, outside.
Cobblestone alleys in the summer time, cause me to rub my neck.
The thick heat of the midnight air as the dew settles on the decks.
No relic can keep me back. No plank can slow me down.
The excitement of this very thought, barely keeps me on the ground.
The smell of the river & baby’s breath.
Wets my pallet, I like this the best.
Can almost catch the taste. Upon my lips no waste.
Moonsteppin, outside. Moonstepping, outside.
The soon will be making it’s way, to relieve the moon.
I bed the city one last goodnight, I shall be returning soon.
I say to thee, not to fear, or let the darkness bite.
On this hot and muggy summers, New Orleans night.
For the day I’ll rest my head.
Remembering what the master said.
You’ve got to wash your hands… of the sun.
Moonsteppin, outside. Moonstepping, outside.
