I Drive

Lyrics/Music: Don de Leaumont

Two bucks a gallon to to fill the tank.

Hell it ain’t been that cheap for months.

An open highway lies ahead of me.

Looking in the mirror, it tells no lies.

Aint as young as I used to be.

A few more lines, a touch of grey and not a place I need to be.

Some say I look just like my old man.

He ain’t as young as he used to be.

Not much to say, but more than the past, he’s learned to trust in me.

Now I wouldn’t call it running away, that’s not what I do.

They always seem to catch you in the end.

And I would call it hiding out, they just find you again…

When life gets too heavy, I drive.

Windows down, the radio’s on, Gregg Allman he sings to me.

With “Midnight Rider”, I’ll ride the wind.

Wherever it cares to carry me.

Now I wouldn’t call it running away, that’s not what I do.

They always seem to catch you in the end.

And I would call it hiding out, they just find you again…

When life gets too heavy, I drive.
