At The Evening Muse

Music/Lyrics: Don de Leaumont

Well I packed up my old guitar, put a CD in the case

Stood in front of the bedroom mirror, and put on my best folk face.

Well I headed down to NODA, to find myself a gig.

That’s when I spotted this little place, that I thought I’d dig.

I walked into the room, there was a sheet to sign my name.

There were people sitting in every chair, with guitars just the same.

The lady told me to sign the list, cuz that’s what ya gotta do.

To get your chance to play your songs, on stage at the Evening Muse.

They called my name, and I went up, I’d even brushed my hair.

Played my heart out for two songs, no one seemed to care.

I asked the lady for a gig, she asked me “who are you?”

I said I’m Don and I just played two songs at the Evening Muse.

Chorus:

Well why I can’t get a gig there, I am so confused.

Said I’d even play for free, they had nothing to loose.

Maybe one day they’ll see the light, with nothing else to do.

And I’ll be seen playing on the stage one night at the Evening Muse.

Well I walked out with my head held low, and not a gig to my name.

Maybe I should’ve sounded like Garth Brooks, or Shania Twain.

But I saw the light, and raised my head, and my finger as I passed.

All you people at the Evening Muse, you can kiss my ass…

Chorus:

Well why I can’t get a gig there, I’m just so confused.

I said I’d even play for free, they had nothing to loose.

When they day comes and they see the light, with nothing else to do.

I’ll be damned if I’ll play my shit, on stage at the Evening Muse
